Share your Family Map
Once you have mapped your Family Tree with Map My Ancestors why not share it with the world? Shared content on Google Maps will show up as "User Content" when people search Google Maps for a matching string (an old street name for example). Sharing your Family Tree map is easy -
1. Save your Map Data
You can do this from Map My Ancestors using the Save button. You can also do this from Google Earth by selecting Save Place As for the folder you want to share. Currently the Google My Maps feature only appears to support the importing of uncompressed files locally so make sure you select KML rather than KMZ as the output file type.
2. Go to Google Maps
Use your browser to navigate to the Google Maps page and select the My Maps tab. Click on the Create a new map link and create a Google account if you don't already have one.
3. Import your Data
Click the Import link and select the KML file you saved with Map My Ancestors
4. Give your Map a Name
Give your map a descriptive title and select Public to share your map. Click the Save button and you're done!
