1921 England and Wales Census records are now available!
On 6 January 2022 the 1921 England and Wales Census records were made available online via the FindMyPast website. The records have been indexed and are searchable via the usual methods. These records are only viewable on a pay-per-view basis and are not included in any of FindMyPast's existing subscriptions with the exception of the 12 month premium subscription.

"COLDEN. From the lands of Cowden near Dalkeith, Midlothian. David Colden who appears as notary in St. Andrews diocese, 1459 (REB., i, 193) may be David Coldane, succentor of Dunkeld, 1492 (REA., n, p. 338). Hugh Golden held tenements in Dalkeith, 1504 (Soltre, p. 324), and John Coldene was chancellor of Brechin, 1537 (Methven, p. 42). The Rev. Alexander Golden was one of the most eminent ministers of the Revolution settlement. His name appears to have been pronounced Couden or Cowdon. Cadwallader Golden (1688-1778), distinguished as physician, botanist, mathematician, and lieutenantgovernor of New York colony for fifteen years, was born in Dalkeith. See also COWDEN.
