Sewale was one of the perambulators of Clerchetune (Clerkington, Haddingtonshire), c. 1144 (RPSA., p. 81). Robertus filius Sewal' witnessed the grant of Gillemoristun before 1189 (REG., p. 39), and Sewal' seruiens cancellarii was a charter witness between 1214-26 (RAA., i, p. 87). SEWALL.
