"STORRAR, STORER. Weekley says (p. 105) this name means 'the convent treasurer,' but the Scottish name is from the office of ' 'storour,' one who has charge of the flocks and herds, as described in Douglas's Eneados (bk. vn, c. K, 21-23): "Tirrheus thair fader was fee maister, and gyde of studis, flokis, bowis, and heyrdis wyde, As storoure to the king." The tenant of a sheep farm in Scotland was called a 'storemaster. William Sturror witnessed sasine by Master Alexander Ramsay in 1534 (Bamff, p. 64), and Bessie Storrar is recorded in Easter Cash, 1732 (Dunkeld). "(The surnames of Scotland.
