1921 England and Wales Census records are now available!

On 6 January 2022 the 1921 England and Wales Census records were made available online via the FindMyPast website. The records have been indexed and are searchable via the usual methods. These records are only viewable on a pay-per-view basis and are not included in any of FindMyPast's existing subscriptions with the exception of the 12 month premium subscription.

"TURNER. From the occupation of 'turner,' a lathe-worker, once a familiar and skilled occupation. A family of this name had possession of the estate of Ardwall in theparish of New Abbey for many generations. Thomas dictus Tumour held land in Aberdeen in 1382 (RMS., i, 682), and John Turnoure held land in Irvine in 1426 (Irvine, i, p. 130). William Tumour, merchant of Scotland, had a safe conduct in England, 1473 (Bain, rv, 1411), and William Tumoure is recorded in Edinburgh, 1482 (CDE., 54). Johannes Tumour, tenant in Kynmonty, 1511 (REA., i, p. 372). Bartholomew Tumor appears in Dysart, 1554 (Dysart, p. 23), and Patrick Turner of Tullinaucht was heir of conquest of Alexander Turner of Kindroght, 1657 (Retours, Ayr, 495).
