"WISHAW. From the town of the same name in Lanarkshire (in 1303, Weteshawe). Archibald Weitschaw witnessed a charter by William Wrythe to the Abbey of Newbattle in 1462 (Neubotle, p. 250). Another Archibald Witschaw (Weicschaw, or Weischaw) was a burgess and charter witness in Glasgow in 1477 and 1478 (REG., p. 462; LCD., p. 191). In 1497 there is mention of the tenement of Archibald Witschaw in Glasgow, probably the same individual (REG., p. 496).
