Adam Clayton Powell IV
Adam Clayton Powell IV (born Adam Clayton Powell Diago; in 1962) is an African American politician from the state of New York. He was a member of the New York State Assembly from 2001 to 2010. From 1992 to 1997, he served as New York City Council Member representing East Harlem and parts of the Upper West Side and the South Bronx. Beginning in 2001, Powell represented the 68th Assembly District, which includes parts of Harlem and East Harlem. He was defeated by Charles Rangel in the 2010 Democratic Primary for the seat of the 15th Congressional District.

Adam Clayton Powell III
Adam Clayton Powell III (born 1946) is an American journalist, media executive, and scholar who currently serves as Director of Washington Policy Initiatives for the University of Southern California and University Fellow at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy. He was USC's vice provost for globalization from 2007 through 2010.
Powell is the son of Congressman Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and jazz musician Hazel Scott. He is the ex-husband of Beryl Powell, daughter of Eileen and John J. Slocum. This marriage attracted media attention as the union of two high-profile families of different races, his Black, hers descended from early New England white colonists. His son Adam C. Powell IV is a materials scientist (not to be confused with the politician of the same name).
Before joining USC, Powell's career included positions at the Freedom Forum, NPR, CBS News, 1010 WINS in New York City (as news director), Quincy Jones Entertainment, and as general manager of Howard University’s WHUT-TV.

His work directing music videos spans a wide range of genres, including hardcore, rock, hip-hop and pop. His portfolio includes many mainstream artists such as Bring Me The Horizon, Example, Jamie T, The 1975, and Charli XCX. He was nominated as Best New Director at the UK Music Video Awards in 2009. His video for The 1975 track "UGH!" was also nominated for 'Best Group Video' Award at the MTV VMA's in Japan.
