Researching Frederick Lloyd

He was born Frederick William Lloyd in London on 15 January 1880. His parents were the Reverend Frederick Charles Lloyd and his wife Mary Florence, née Cox. Lloyd was married to theatre actress Auriol Lee from 1911 to 1922. He was later married to actress Yvette Plancon from 1925 to 1929. He died on 24 November 1949 at Hove, Sussex, England.

In an obituary in The Times John Gielgud wrote that 'the theatre has suffered a real loss in the death of Frederick Lloyd', adding 'his enthusiasm and charming joviality and his generous attitude toward the young actor-director — for I was a young man when I met him first — is something I shall remember with great affection and gratitude'.

In 1915, René Vilatte founded the American Catholic Church. It was at this time that he received Lloyd into the church and on December 19, 1915, he was consecrated as a bishop at Saint David's Chapel on East Thirty-Sixth Street, Chicago. Vilatte was assisted by Bishop Paolo Miraglia-Gulotti, formerly of Italy and then of New York and working with Vilatte in the United States. During the consecration the archbishop addressed the congregation and newly consecrated prelate saying:

It needs to prophet to fortell for you and the American Catholic Church a great future in the Province of God. The need for a Church both American and Catholic, and free from paparchy and all foreign denominations, has been felt for many years by Christians of all the denominations. May your zeal and apostolic ministry be crowned with success.

On September 8, 1929, Lloyd consecrated John Churchill Sibley as Missionary Archbishop and Vicar General of the Order of Antioch in England.

The spread of the American Catholic Church from 1920 until his death in 1933 was largely due to his initiative.

Frederick Lloyd (born 23 February 1991) is a British film director and composer. He attended University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, graduated in 2012 with a first class degree in Film Production.

Lloyd's Pantheon was screened at the BKSTS 2012 student showcase. This was his third film to be shown at the BFI showcase, with The Constant being shown in 2011 and The Death of the Cinema Projectionist the same year. Pantheon went on to win Best Film, Best Score and Best Production Design at Screentest Film Festival 2013. It also screened internationally at Plus Camerimage 2012 in Poland and National Film Festival for Talented Youth 2013 in Seattle, USA. In July 2013, it was released online for public viewing a year after its completion.

The Constant was also selected for the 2011 BBC Music Video Festival and shown by the BBC on 20 screens around the UK.
