George Garrett (poet)
George Palmer Garrett (June 11, 1929 – May 25, 2008) was an American poet and novelist. He was the Poet Laureate of Virginia from 2002 to 2004. His novels include The Finished Man, Double Vision, and the Elizabethan Trilogy, composed of Death of the Fox, The Succession, and Entered from the Sun. He worked as a book reviewer and screenwriter, and taught at Cambridge University and, for many years, at the University of Virginia. He is the subject of critical books by R. H. W. Dillard, Casey Clabough, and Irving Malin.

George Garrett (composer)
George Mursell Garrett (8 June 1834 – 8 April 1897) was an English organist and composer.
Garrett was born in Winchester where his father was master of the choristers at Winchester Cathedral. He later served as assistant to Samuel Sebastian Wesley at Winchester. Garrett was appointed the Director of Music at St. John's College, Cambridge in 1857 and held the position for forty years.
Garrett wrote music for the Anglican Church in the form of service settings and anthems. He is perhaps best represented today by his Anglican chant setting of Psalm 126.
He is buried in the Mill Road cemetery, Cambridge.

George Christopher Garrett (23 December 1908 – 19 January 1969) was an Irish hurler who played as a centre-back for the Cork senior team.
Born in Cork, Garrett first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-two when he joined the Cork senior team for the 1931 championship. Garrett went on to play a key role for Cork in what was a decade-long barren spell for the team, and won one All-Ireland medal.
As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team for five years, Garrett won one Railway Cup medal in 1934. At club level he won three successive championship medals with Blackrock.
Throughout his career Garrett made 12 championship appearances. His retirement came following Cork's defeat by Waterford in the 1938 championship.
