Jim Bartley
James William Edward Bartley (baptised 28 May 1902 – 21 September 1939) was an English professional footballer of the 1920s.
Bartley was born in Coseley, Staffordshire, the son of George and Eliza Bartley. In 1916, during the First World War, his father died in Mesopotamia of wounds received while serving with the North Staffordshire (Prince of Wales's) Regiment. Bartley joined Gillingham from Bilston United in 1926. He made his debut for the club in September of the same year against Aberdare Athletic and played in the next three matches, but was then out of the team for six months. He returned to the team in April 1927 against Exeter City and played five more times that season, but played only once in 1927–28 and twice in 1928–29.
Bartley had a further run of eight games in the Gillingham team in September and October 1929, but after two further games later that season, he left to join Canterbury Waverley.
Bartley later ran a pub, the Good Intent, in Gillingham. In September 1939, "after a period of indifferent health", he died unexpectedly at age 37, the same age at which his father died. He was survived by a widow and two children.

Jim Bartley (born 1945) is an Irish actor best known for his part as Bela Doyle in the Irish soap opera Fair City, a part he has had since 1990.His other television credits include Fatal Inheritance, The Bill, Joyriders, Taffin, The Fantasist, Inside, The Irish R.M., Teems of Times, Coronation Street, Underground, Ulysses, Tolka Row and Z-Cars. He has also had film roles in War of the Buttons, M.A.N.: Matrix Adjusted Normal, Teresa's Wedding and The Pink Panther Strikes Again.
He married actress Barbara Brennan in 1973. They had two children, Emmet and Eva, but separated in 1984. Emmet died tragically in 1987, aged nine. Eva also became an actress. Currently he lives with his partner Helen Cahill in Tallaght, County Dublin.
In recent years he has taken regular breaks from acting due to him having strokes.
On 24 May 2013, Bartley had a full segment of The Late Late Show set aside in honour of his 55 years in showbiz. His former Fair City co-star and screen wife Jean Costello was sitting in the audience and was reported to be "disgusted" that she was snubbed. Costello was also reported to have been offended at an off-the-cuff remark about a "bereavement" suffered following the death of Costello's character, without mentioning her character's name.
