Jim Russell (cartoonist)

James Newton Russell AM MBE (26 March 1909 – 15 August 2001) was an Australian cartoonist who drew The Potts for 62 years. Jim's brother Dan Russell was also a cartoonist.

Russell has entered the Guinness Book of Records for drawing the same comic strip singlehandedly without any assistance for a period of over 62 years, beating the record previously held by Frank Dickens' Bristow, which was in syndication for over 51 years, and Marc Sleen's The Adventures of Nero, which was in syndication for a period of 45 years.

Jim Russell (journalist)

James B. Russell (born 1946) is a journalist, producer, and executive who has created national programs for all three public radio networks: National Public Radio, Public Radio International and American Public Media, as well as for PBS.

Russell has worked for more than thirty years in commercial radio, print, public radio, and television. Programs he has helped create include Marketplace, Weekend America, and public TV's Newton’s Apple, NightTimes, Electronicle and America After Vietnam. He also helped develop NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and PRI's The World.

Russell was a 1973–1974 NEH Journalism Fellow at the University of Michigan.

Russell is now the president of his own consulting company, Jim Russell Productions—The Program Doctor.

Jim Russell (ice hockey)

James Russell (March 31, 1918 – September 3, 1977) was a Canadian ice hockey player.

As a member of the Sudbury Wolves, he was a member of the 1938 Team Canada that won a gold medal at the 1938 World Ice Hockey Championships in Prague. Russell also captained the Wolves team that won a silver medal at the 1949 World Ice Hockey Championships in Stockholm, Sweden. He also played professionally with the Buffalo Bisons, St. Louis Flyers of the American Hockey League (in the 1944–45 season) as well as the New Westminster Royals in the Pacific Coast Hockey League (1947–48 season).

Russell, a native of Hamilton, Ontario, played junior hockey in Guelph, Ontario. After junior, played hockey in the Maritimes, with the Saint John Beavers, Glace Bay Miners, and North Sydney Victorias. He then served in the Canadian Army during World War II, playing on Army hockey teams in Vancouver and Toronto.
