John Perkins (author)
John Perkins (born January 28, 1945) is an American author. His best known book is Confessions of an Economic Hit Man (2004), in which Perkins claims to have played a role in an alleged process of economic colonization of Third World countries on behalf of what he portrays as a cabal of corporations, banks, and the United States government. The book's claims were met with skepticism and rebuttal by some, but spent more than 70 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, has been published in at least 32 languages, and is used in many college and university programs.
Perkins has also written about mystical aspects of indigenous cultures, including shamanism.

John Frederick Perkins FRES (5 May 1910 in Paignton, Devon – 14 May 1983) was an English entomologist. He was the son of Zoë Lucy Sherrard Alatau and Robert Cyril Layton Perkins, also a hymenopterist. He was first educated at Newton College (Devon) and graduated with a First class Honours degree from the Imperial College of Science in 1932. In 1933, he was appointed an Assistant Keeper in the Department of Entomology British Museum (Natural History) where he specialised in Hymenoptera.
He was a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society.
