John Ambrose Street
John Ambrose Street, (September 22, 1795 – May 5, 1865) was a lawyer and political figure in New Brunswick. He represented Northumberland County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1833 to 1842 and from 1843 to 1856.
He was born in Burton, New Brunswick, the son of Samuel Denny Street and Abigail Freeman, and was educated there and in Fredericton. He studied law with his father and was called to the bar in 1817. Street lived in Newcastle from 1823 to 1845. He served as registrar of wills and deeds for Northumberland County and as a member of the county board of health. In 1823, he married Jane Isabella, the daughter of William Hubbard, who had represented Sunbury County in the provincial assembly. Street was first elected to the provincial assembly in an 1833 by-election held after Joseph Cunard resigned his seat. In 1837, he was named Queen's Counsel. He was defeated in the 1842 general election but was elected in an 1843 by-election held after the results of the election were challenged. In 1851, he became a member of the province's Executive Council as attorney general.
Street ran unsuccessfully for reelection in 1856, 1861 and 1865. He died in Saint John at the age of 69.
His brother George Frederick, also a lawyer, served as a judge and a member of the Legislative Council.

Arthur John Street (3 January 1932 – 6 January 2009), better known as John Street, was an English professional snooker referee.
He refereed at all the major televised tournaments beginning in the 1970s up until his retirement. His final match was at the 1997 Benson & Hedges Masters final when Steve Davis defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan 10–8 after trailing 4–8. This match was particularly notable for having a streaker run around the table leaving John Street speechless.
Street refereed in five World Championship finals between 1980 and 1995. He handled the famous 1992 final between Jimmy White and Stephen Hendry when Hendry came from 8–14 behind to win the match 18–14 by winning 10 consecutive frames.
Street was co-author of several snooker rule books.
He died from lung disease in Exeter in 2009 aged 77. Street was married to Jean, they had two children together.

General John Alfred Street, CB (1822 – 5 December 1889) was a British Army officer who was the 25th General Officer Commanding, Ceylon.
He joined the British Army as an ensign in 1839, became Lieutenant (by purchase) in 1841 and was promoted to captain in 1848. In 1842 he served in China with the 98th Foot during the First Opium War where he was present at the attack and capture of Chin Kiang Foo and at the Nanking landing.
In 1854 he was posted to Crimea as Brigade-Major of the 1st Brigade, 4th Division and was present at the battles of Balaklava, Inkerman and the Siege of Sebastopol. For his services he was awarded medal with three clasps, brevet of major, CB, Sardinian and Turkish medals and 4th class of the Medjidie.
Back in England he was commandant of the 10th Depot Battalion in Colchester before being appointed general officer commanding, Ceylon in 1874. He was succeeded there by William Wilby in 1879.
In 1882 he was given the colonelcy of the 2nd Battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), which he held until his death. He was made full general on 23 October 1883.
He died at his home in Woking in 1889. He had married twice; firstly Sophia, the daughter of Rev. James Holroyd of Whitehall, Colchester (who died in Colombo) and secondly Caroline, the daughter of Charles Hosfall Bill of The Priory, Tetbury, Gloucestershire. He left two daughters and a son. His eldest daughter Sophia married Lord Gifford, V.C.

John Rendell Street (19 October 1832 – 23 March 1891) was an Australian businessman, banker and politician. He served in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly seat of East Sydney from 1887 until his death. He descended from Baron Sir Thomas Street, an English Chief Justice, and he is the patriarch of Australia's Street dynasty through his son Sir Philip Street.
In 1886, Street founded the Perpetual Trustee Company as managing director with fellow trustees Edmund Barton and James Fairfax. He was a partner in the law firm Allen, Street & Norton, a director of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Company, and a vice president of Sydney Hospital. He had his children by Susanna Lawson, the daughter of William Lawson.
