Mary Knight Wood
Mary Knight Wood Mason (17 April 1857 – 20 December 1944) was an American pianist, music educator and composer. She was born in Easthampton, Massachusetts, the daughter of Lieutenant-governor, manufacturer and philanthropist Horatio G. Knight and Mary Ann Huntoon Knight. She was educated at Charlier Institute in New York City and Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut, studying music with Karl Klauser, Benjamin Johnson Lang and Henry Holden Huss.
Knight married Charles Greenleaf Wood of Boston in 1879, and Alfred Bishop Mason of New York in 1914, after which she lived in New York City and summered at a cabin in the Catskill Mountains. She died in Florence, Italy.

Mary Christina Wood (born 1962) is an Oregon Philip H. Knight Professor of Law and author, best known for her writings advocating for the use of the Public trust doctrine to compel government action on climate change. Wood originated the approach, called atmospheric trust litigation, "to hold governments worldwide accountable for reducing carbon pollution within their jurisdictions, and her research is being used in cases and petitions brought on behalf of children and youth throughout the United States and in other countries."
In 2014, after a number of atmospheric trust litigation and petitions were brought by young people worldwide, Forbes contributor James Conca wrote, "(i)f the Supreme Court holds the government responsible for at least trying to protect our atmosphere, things could certainly change here in America."

Mary Evelyn Wood (1900 – 1978) was a politician and nurse in the Cayman Islands. She was the first woman elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Cayman Islands.
The daughter of Charles and Julietta Wood, she started a small school in her father's home while she was in her early 20s. Wood trained as a nurse and worked in her community as a nurse, visiting new and expectant mothers and sick persons. She provided care to victims of a typhoid epidemic in the late 1930s.
Wood was one of many women who signed a 1957 petition in support of women's suffrage; women gained the vote in 1959. In the same year, she joined the National Democratic Party, serving as treasurer. In 1962, she was elected to the legislative assembly for Bodden Town district. She was not the first woman to serve, however, as Annie Huldah Bodden had been appointed the previous year.
Wood was also the first woman in the Cayman Islands to serve on a jury.
In 1965, Wood received the Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour for her service to the community.
