Patrick White
Patrick Victor Martindale White (28 May 1912 – 30 September 1990) was an Australian writer who published 12 novels, three short-story collections, and eight plays, from 1935 to 1987.
White's fiction employs humour, florid prose, shifting narrative vantage points and stream of consciousness techniques. In 1973 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, "for an epic and psychological narrative art which has introduced a new continent into literature", as it says in the Swedish Academy's citation, the only Australian to have been awarded the prize. White was also the inaugural recipient of the Miles Franklin Award.

Patrick White (born January 20, 1989) is an American former professional ice hockey center. He last played with Ducs de Dijon in the Ligue Magnus. White previously played in North America for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). Prior to joining the Golden Gophers, he played four seasons of high school hockey in the Minnesota State High School League with the Grand Rapids High School Thunderhawks. Although he was drafted twice by junior ice hockey teams—the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in 2004 and the Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League (USHL) in 2005—he chose to play for his high school instead. Described as a skilled forward with a good wrist shot, White was drafted in the first round, 25th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, before being traded to the Sharks in 2009.

Patrick White (born 1981, in Sechelt, British Columbia, Canada) is a prize-winning Canadian journalist and author. White worked in his parents' publishing firm, Harbour Publishing during his high school years in Pender Harbour and attended the University of Victoria, graduating in 2003 with a BA in history followed by a masters in journalism at Columbia University in 2006. He has worked for Newsweek, The New York Post, Toro, The Walrus and currently serves as National Correspondent for The Globe and Mail in Toronto, Ontario. In 2004 he published the book Mountie in Mukluks, an irreverent look at the work of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the Canadian Arctic during the 1930s., In 2007 he received a National Magazine Awards Gold Medal for his feature "Red Rush," published in The Walrus. In 2009 White served as an embedded journalist with the Canadian Armed Forces in Kandahar, Afghanistan. In April 2012 he won the 2011 National Newspaper Award for best Long Feature for an anniversary piece on the founding of Nunavut., followed in 2015 by another NNA award for his expose of Canada's overuse of solitary confinement, "Who Killed Eddie Snowshoe?" In 2016 he won his third NNA in the category of Beat Reporting. His brother Silas White is the publisher of Nightwood Editions and councillor for the town of Gibsons, British Columbia.
