Ray Powell (British politician)
Sir Raymond Powell (19 June 1928 – 7 December 2001), known as Ray Powell, was a Welsh politician who served as the Labour Member of Parliament for Ogmore. He continued as constituency MP until his death.
Powell, a former shop worker and manager, was sponsored by his trade union, USDAW, and entered Parliament at the 1979 election, after becoming chairman of the Welsh Labour Party in 1977; he was an opponent of Welsh devolution. He was an opposition whip from 1983 to 1995, when he retired to the backbenches. He was knighted in 1996.
He was opposed to Sunday trading and was active in Parliament to block legislation to allow it. He married Marion Evans in 1950, and their daughter, Janice Gregory, was a member of the National Assembly for Wales from 1999 to 2016.

Raymond Reath Powell (November 20, 1888 – October 16, 1962), was a professional baseball player who played outfielder in the Major Leagues from -. Powell played for the Detroit Tigers and Boston Braves.
In 875 games over 9 seasons, Powell posted a .268 batting average (890-for-3324) with 467 runs, 117 doubles, 67 triples, 35 home runs, 276 RBI, 51 stolen bases, 321 bases on balls, .336 on-base percentage and .375 slugging percentage. He finished his career with a .959 fielding percentage playing at all three outfield positions.

Harold Raymond Powell (7 August 1923 – 7 July 1993) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
Powell was a utility player, often featuring as a half forward flanker. He only twice played more than half the game in a season, with 16 appearances in 1944, followed by 14 games in 1945. His 43 goals in 1944, five of them in the finals, were enough to top Essendon's goal-kicking.
He played for Brunswick from 1947 to 1949 and was then coach of Ascot Vale.
