Researching Alex Jones

Jones has promoted conspiracy theories alleging that the United States government either concealed information about or outright falsified the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting, the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, the September 11 attacks, and the 1969 Moon landing. He has claimed that several governments and big businesses have colluded to create a "New World Order" through "manufactured economic crises, sophisticated surveillance tech and—above all—inside-job terror attacks that fuel exploitable hysteria".

Mainstream sources have described Jones as a conservative, far-right, alt-right, and a conspiracy theorist. Jones has described himself as a paleoconservative and a libertarian.

A longtime critic of Republican and Democratic foreign and security policy, Jones supported Donald Trump's 2016 presidential bid and continued to support him as a savior from an alleged criminal bipartisan cabal controlling the federal government, despite falling out over several of Trump's policies, including airstrikes against the Assad regime. A staunch supporter of Trump's reelection, Jones supported the false claims of electoral fraud in the 2020 presidential election, and on January 6, 2021, was a speaker at a rally in Lafayette Square Park supporting Trump, preceding an attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters.

Jones was 20 years old when he entered the majors in 1889 with the Pittsburgh Alleghenys, playing for them one year before joining the Louisville Colonels (1892), Washington Senators (1892), Philadelphia Phillies (1894) and Detroit Tigers (1903). Jones always was a bad luck pitcher either due to injury or playing on a bad baseball team. His most productive season came in 1892, when he posted a 3.31 ERA in 16 combined starts for the Colonels and Senators, but finished with a negative record of 5–14. The rest of the time, he kept jumping between the minors and majors for almost 20 years.

In a four-season career, Jones posted a 7–15 record with a 3.73 ERA in 26 appearances, including 18 complete games and one shutout, giving up 137 runs (54 unearned) on 199 hits and 77 walks while striking out 65 in innings of work.

Jones died in Woodville, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, at the age of 71.

Jones first appeared in county cricket for Wales Minor Counties against Oxfordshire in the 2007 Minor Counties Championship, while the following season he played his first match in the MCCA Knockout Trophy against Dorset. In 2009 while studying for his degree in Sport and Physical Education at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Jones played for Cardiff UCCE against county sides, though the matches were not rated as first-class.

Having been a part of Glamorgan's Academy since 2005, he eventually made his first team debut for the county in a List A match against Somerset in the 2010 Clydesdale Bank 40. The following season he made further List A appearances, as well as making his first-class debut against Surrey in the County Championship. It was not in List A or first-class cricket that he had success in during the 2011 season, but in Twenty20 cricket instead. Making his debut in that format against Middlesex, he went on to take 15 wickets in the 2011 Friends Provident t20, which came at 17.06 apiece with best figures of 3/16.

Jones was released by Glamorgan after the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2013 season, after making only one county championship appearance in two years.

Jones began karting in 2004, winning the prestigious ABkC National Open Championship in TKM Extreme in 2006 and competing at Super 1 level in 2007 before competing in British Formula Ford and subsequently moving to the US to test and race in Indy Lights. Jones made his British Formula Ford Championship debut in 2007. He competed in a full season of British Formula Ford in 2008, finishing third in the scholarship class with 6 class wins and 17th in the overall championship. He returned to British Formula Ford in 2009 and finished 13th in the main championship with a pole position at Knockhill Racing Circuit. Jones did not participate in any races in 2010 or 2011 but did test Formula Three and Indy Lights cars.

Jones returned to professional racing in 2012 driving in Firestone Indy Lights for Brooks Associates Racing. He competed in Long Beach, crashing 19 laps in, and was credited with 14th place.

On his return to the UK in 2012 Jones took up competitive cycling; racing on road, cycle cross and time trials. 2013 was his first full season of racing during which he progressed from 4th to 1st cat and also won the Great Orme Road Race, North Wales. During the winter of 2013 he raced in the North West Cyclocross League achieving 5th overall (including 2 wins).

2014 saw Jones win the Avanti Gas 2 day road race, winning both the final stage and overall winner. Jones regularly competed in the Marsh Tracks, Rhyl Criterium races, and in his last race there at the end of 2016 lapped the field solo to win in impressive style.

From 2016 to 2018 Jones turned his attention to Time Trials. He achieved several wins around the UK capped in 2018 with  3rd place in the Welsh TT National Championship followed by 16th place in the British National 50 mile Championship.

On 30 March 2019, whilst cycling in the Denbighshire hills, Jones suffered a cardiac arrest and died at the age of 30.
