1921 England and Wales Census records are now available!

On 6 January 2022 the 1921 England and Wales Census records were made available online via the FindMyPast website. The records have been indexed and are searchable via the usual methods. These records are only viewable on a pay-per-view basis and are not included in any of FindMyPast's existing subscriptions with the exception of the 12 month premium subscription.

"BARNES. From Barnes in the parish of Premnay, Aberdeenshire. Robert or Bernis was a goldsmith in 1465 (Lain, 154), John Barnis witnessed an instrument of sasine in 1496 (Banff, p. 37), and Alexander Barnis was admitted burgess of Aberdeen in 1524 (NSCM., i, p. 48). Thomas Barnys was notary public in 1536 (Laing, 404), William Barnis granted the chaplainry of the Three Kings of Culane (Cologne) in Dundee, 1588 (REB., n, 362). Alexander Bairins was admitted burgess of Aberdeen, 1575 (RSCA., i, p. 220), Gilbert Bairnis was 'sacristar' there, 1595 (CRA., p. 117), and Mathew Baimis was admitted burgess of the burgh, 1616 (NSCM., I, p. 117). Euphemia Bams is recorded in Dundee, 1621 (Brechin), and John Barns, skinner in Haddington, was charged with defying the town authorities in 1628 (RFC., 2. ser. n, p. 593). James Barnes was merchant burgess of Edinburgh, 1649 (Inquis., 3257), Jear Bams daughter of deceased William Barns of Belweddocke, 1656 (DPD., n, p. 208), Robert Barnes of Kirkhill, Ayrshire, in record, 1668 (Corsehitt, p. 81), John Bams or Barnes was provost of Glasgow, 1687 (RFC., 3. ser. xm, p. 146, 147), and David Barns was feuar and gardener in Duns, 1766 (Louder).
